Jeroen Wierstra (Netherlands)
Jeroen Wierstra,(1965) is art therapist, trainer and supervisor, specialised in systemic
therapy. Over the years he has been working with people from different social and cultural backgrounds and in different settings like centres for homeless people, addicted prisoners and multistressed families.
From 2006 on part of his work was helping parents and other adults to develop a positive form of authority along with effective, non-punitive strategies of addressing
the young person’s controlling behaviour without escalation, restoring a sense of balance in the family, and improving family relationships.
In 2009 he joined the team of the Lorentzhuis, ‘centre for systemic therapy, training and consultation’ in Haarlem, where, besides working
with couples and families, he is working together with Eliane Wiebenga en Hans Bom helping parents and their out-of-control teenagers or anxious chidren based on NVR and New/Connecting Authority.
Apart from this work he is part of a team working with parents in high conflict divorce and their children; a project developed as a cooperation between Lorentzhuis en Kenter called ‘No Kids in the Middle’.
