Imaginary methods in Non Violent Therapy and Parent Coaching
Imaginary methods in Non Violent Therapy and Parent Coaching – from helplessness to hope
Imaginative Methoden in Therapie und Elterncoaching mit gewaltfreiem Widerstand – von der Hilflosigkeit zur Hoffnung
Parents of children showing harmful behaviour come to us with a sense of being ‘erased’ – following rejection and dismissal, they often feel they no longer matter to their child and cannot imagine resistance against harm or providing care. Resisting and establishing ‘new authority’ can feel like a huge, insurmountable task, while the parent’s sense of ‘self’ has been diminished. Co-imagination between parent and therapist creates new and hopeful stories of a future in which the parent experiences personal strength, connection with others and caring dialogue with their child. Participants will learn some of the practical methods the presenters have developed to stimulate these imaginary processes that generate a strong sense of agency in the parents they work with.
