Building Trust and Cooperation between Israel Police and Israeli-Arab Citizens
The Non-Violent Resistance as a way toward a Better Future

Israel Police and Israeli-Arab citizens have experienced many violent conflicts, with significant costs in human lives, hatred, hostility and mistrust.
In recent years, Israel Police has been advancing activities designed for reconstructing trust and establishing cooperation with Arab citizens, aiming to reduce crime and strengthen civilians‘ sense of personal safety.
This workshop describes and illustrates how implementing the principles of non-violent resistance has reduced hatred and resentment; contributed to the development of trust; and helped creating a network of community leaders, local authority officials, and the police, all working together to minimize crime within the Arab sector. The workshop includes videotaped interviews with police and civilians, who describe how the non-violent resistence approach had changed their attitudes and behaviors toward one another.
